We just purchased a 1969 17' seaswirl in excellent condition. The previous owner used the boat for trolling and low rpms. It came with a merc 100hp thunderbolt that is running well but we are finding the need for tweaks in order to get the speed back that is needed for skiing. Engine has no power tilt or trim, we found that the motor was riding too straight in the water and changed the tilt and it helped some. Motor came with a trolling plate attached which we also removed. We are not sure of the prop size or pitch that is currently on the motor now, but what would be the best for skiing and tubing? Motor when fully released vertically, misses touching the ground by an inch. We are hoping to multi-task this boat to get the most use. We will be lake fishing, maybe some bay crabbing as well as water sports. Thanks for any help you can give.
