1970 evinrude 25 hp ?

hi just put my outboard in the barrel to check if water pump is working ok. waterpump seems to be working fine but noticed water shooting out of two small holes in bottom front of leg. is this normal?

How far is the lower unit submerged into the water? Are the holes like pin holes?

just below the water outlet, and the holes are about 1/8 in dia. just above lower front mount. thanks for responding. John

Absolutely normal. They are drain holes for the drive shaft chamber. If they were NOT draining, then you have a problem.
