Hello guys first of thanks a lot for the help with the water pump.

I finally got the motor going and it ran on the water after struggling to start it for 2 hrs because it keeps dying after 2 3 seconds of running. Non the less after a while it started and i cruised at half speed for 3 4 minutes and it went out of forward gear. Not only was it a crappy day but the wind blew me in to the middle of the lake and had to get towed back in. NOw i have reverse but forward does not work and it still keeps dying when i turn it on. My dad thinks the air is not adjusted properly how do i adjust it if thats what it is? and what do i do to get it in forward? Thank you for your help up to date. NIK

Dad's a great guy, I suppose, but that probably isn't the problem.

As for the shift, the first order of business is to check the voltage at the green wire at the rear of the powerhead. Check it without disconnecting the wires. Should be around 12 volts when in forward. If not, check all wiring and the shift switch. But if you have the 12V, then the trouble is between there and the forward clutch in the lower unit.

Good luck. You are going to need it.

50:1 is correct.
Confirm the compression is even across both cylinders.
Confirm good spark on both cylinders.
If both are good, then the problem is fuel delivery.
