I have a 1970 6HP Johnson, 6R-70B. I'd like to know if there is a Sierra (or Mallory) fuel pump available for it.
The OEM fuel pump is 0382875, superseded by 0388685.
The OEM pump runs $87.95 :(

Haven't been able to cross reference it.
Thanks in advance.

Whaler,
What's the matter with the pump you have? Is it a cracked cover? If so, you CAN buy just the cover and it's literally a $2 part. Ask for the part number if you need it and I'll see if I can come up with it. (I had the same problem once before.
Just curious,

Cracked cover, gasket shot, leaks, full of disintegrated fuel line/cork gasket, 39 years old.....
cover == 0312629 ($2.20)
Gasket == 0312634 ($3.75)
Shipping (probably 7 bucks)

If I could get a new one for 45 bucks or so, I'd replace it.
If I'm stuck with the 87 dollar one, then I'll try to clean this one up.

Why wouldn't a fuel pump off a later model 9.9 or 15 hp work? I know they will bolt up and they can be found on ebay for a decent price.
If I remember right I done a swap similar to this and it worked fine.

why not this. http://www.iboats.com/Sierra_18_735...z.36857--**********.619276916--view_id.174139 true it is not listed as a direct replacement, buy is used on a lot of motors that vintage and hp range.

The difference in all those part numbers is the direction that the hose nipples point. The big inlet one can be relocated in any direction. So, if you can re-route the small hose, you have it made. Note that the pump has to be installed right side up.

No problem on re-routing the little hose. I have plenty of it, and it's not like it's real cramped under the hood...;)

Thanks for the Part # TD.

Re: 1970 Johnson 6HP Fuel Pump

Just an update:
Ordered the Sierra 18-7350 Fuel pump and installed it. Needed to buy new 2" screws (#10-24;not supplied). The original 1-1/2" screws barely clear the new pump.
Fuel house routing not a problem.
No leaks, and the engine cover still fits. The Sierra is quite a bit thicker than the OEM pump.
