Johnson propeller

When i was servicing the boat i came across the propeller that it is broken in a few places. I filed it down to sharpen the edges and painted it.

Now I'm not sure if i should keep it as it is or replace it

*propeller is cracked in 2-3 places

Will replacing it make any noticeable differences?

Any suggestions?

Its best to replace it then to tear up your lower end you can also have it fixed as long as you have it balanced or just keep it for Emergency use to get you back to dry land.

+1. When the prop is that far gone it won't rotate smoothly and the vibrations could damage the motor. I would keep it as a spare and try to get another one. You should be able to find a decent used one for about $20-$30 on ebay, or you could but a new replacement for about $40-$50.

Besides the vibration problem from the damaged prop it no doubt is damaged enough to hinder performance.
At 40 years old there is no doubt a new Solas Amita 3 blade will out perform your prop.Don't expect miracles.
Before changing props do a lightly loaded test run get us the info requested in the stickys at the top of the prop forum.
If your completely happy with your performance just get the same pitch prop.
