Hello, i was wondering if i use a siphon to put antifreeze in the engine by reversing the flow where water spits out. When i put antifreeze this way it come the exhuast by the prop. Not sure if this idea would properly winterize it.

???-------Why are you spending $ on antifreeze ?-------Water drains out of this motor when it stops running.-----Just have it in the normal running position on the boat or a stand.

Well i hear sometimes online that peoples motors crack from not winterizing them right. Couple years back, my motor cracked and i had to put sealant on it, since then, i put tons of antifreeze in it.

Outboards are self draining, provided the drains are not clogged. The drains that clog are usually little holes in the lower unit. When you store the engine, once you are done the winterizing, have the engine vertical, disconnect the spark plug wires and ground them, then slowly pull the starter rope a few times, that will ensure the water pump is drained.
The Antifreeze thing is a new fad for inboard engines. I guess it the draining of the block is uncertain, then using this stuff would be an insurance policy to reduce the chance of a cracked block

So the way i did it in the picture will prevent engine damage but the antifreeze won't make it to the water pump?

Its of no value, whatever you do the antifreeze will just drain out of the block and pour on the ground.

What part of your motor and others cracked from freezing?

using antifreeze on an outboard is like mounting propellers to a hat. serves no purpose other than to waste money

for a 2-stroke: fog motor, pull outboard out of water, change gear lube, store vertical = winterized

if you need to store it horizontal, let it stand vertical for about 10 minutes for the water to drain out of it, then store it horizontal
