Hi all,
I have a 1971 Chrysler 35 HP model 355Hc. About 2 weeks ago the engine was running fine, giving full speed in both forward and reverse. One day, I went to throttle up and plane out, but the engine just slips out of gear and has no power beyond 20% throttle travel. The engine will still rev higher and higher, it just won't actually move the boat any faster
I thought it was something in the lower unit, so I bought and replaced the lower with a 45HP lower. The shift is great on the new unit, but the same problem has still stayed even after swapping out the lower.
So does anyone know what else it could be? I am thinking it would be the piece that mates with the splines on the lower unit shaft, but was curious if anyone else can chime in.
Thanks,
John
