1971 Edinboro

I would just like to say hello. I am the proud new owner of a 1971 MFG Edinboro (I think). I have done some looking online to find the model (seeing as it wasn't on the title) and I beleive it is the Edinboro. It is in surprising nice shape. I think the motor was switched out on it. It now has a 1968 Johnson V100 long shaft. Don't know if that is the original or not. Seeing as I do not know what this boat looking like originally I was thinking of posting some pics up here and asking some of you if you could let me know a little more about it. I will take some pics and post up tomorrow afternoon or evening. So until then happy boating.

Welcome aboard DM82!

All of us MFG'ers are happy to have you here. Your Edinboro probably is a 1970. I'm fairly sure that was the last year it was offered. If you have a MFG tag on the inside of the Transom. It will tell you. Should be the last two digits. Once again welcome!

Hello again and thanks for the warm greating. I am here in Cleveland Ohio. I came across my MFG actually by accident. I was out bidding a job (I am a carpenter) and across the street they had a sign in the front yard, "Boat for Sale". So I stopped in and this beauty was sitting in the lake in there back yard. I started her up and gave the guy $650 for here out the door. Got it home and the motor wouldn't start again so I have been working on it this winter. Should have it working today. This winter I plan on giving her a complete overhaul (paint, carpet, so one and so forth).
Here are some pics I took. She is a little dirty seeing as she sat in my garage all winter but I promise she will be clean spotless this week. Enjoy!!

WOW, she is a beauty!

Those vents at the bottom of the windshield are too cool! Make sure to take your camera when you take it for it's "first" water test.

Good find! You might find newer, fancier boats, but you won't find anything as low maintenance and stable on the water as these old MFGs. Have fun with it!

Well thanks to all again. So at this point I am going to have to correct myself (and my title). I went looking through the brochures at fiberglassics.com/mfg and was surprised to find that it is actually a 1965 Edinboro Custom. I'm adding a link to the page. Check it out. 1965 REALLY!!!! Its almost twice my age.

Just wondering if it is worth going and getting the year changed on the title? How would you go about doing something like that? Just some thoughts

Hummm... After seeing your photo, I thought it was an earlier one. The windshield was the tell all. Were you able to locate the I.D. tag? I'd change the title. Every State is different so, it might be difficult or not. If for no other reason, piece of mind.

Geepers , that boat is only about a year older than me .....
As for changing your title , your results may vary in OH . I did it in MA , so it can be done . Truthfully it will only matter to you . The only other people that may care would be an insurance co.
Download a copy of the old brochure , bring lots of photos of your boat ,show up to the DNR office in early am and expect to stay all day
(beurocrasy in motion......) Bring a bag lunch and a good fishing mag too. When they see your determined and patient , things get done for you , quicker than if you yell kick and scream for the supervisor Good luck , peter

Unfortunatly there has been some transom work done on her. Just above and below the inside of the backwash basin (or whatever it is called) peices of aluminum have been added. Same with the exterior. So if there is a tag I can't see it.
Does anyone know if 65 is the only year that MFG did the windshield vents? I looked all through the brochures and havn't seen another year like it. It would be nice to have something that is kind of rare. Now knowing a little more about the boat I think I am going to restore it this winter. I really want to get those vents open. The guy who owned the boat before me really must have had no interest in the boat because all of his repairs were done half ***. The vents are siliconed shut. Must have leaked a little.
By the way it sure is nice to have some people to share my thoughts of my boat with. My family and friends all think I bought a peice of junk. HA little do they know!!
