If this was the small engine fuse in the block harness, it is likely caused by the choke warm up circuit. The warm up circuit wire to the choke should be removed from the terminal block and combined onto the main choke terminal.

I can fish out the specifics if needed.

The fuse was shorted as the previous owner did not know what he was doing.

The motor, when I got it was stuck in forward gear, a safety mechanism that engages if something is wrong, so theoretically you could still get the boat home. He tried to fix it and thought it was his gear switch, so he took off the control unit and messed with the wires, thus blowing the fuse. All seems good now, next weekend I will see how it performs on the lake.
