You can get all that stuff on Iboats. You can order OEM or aftermarket stuff. You can also get aftermarket at Napa. Just tell them its the AQ130 VP. I'm not sure what they have for stuff that old.

Good Luck.

Re: 1971 Glastron Heat Issues

I had a 1972 Glastron V177 Swinger for nearly 2 decades. It had an AQ130C that looked identical to yours (with a 270 outdrive), with the exception that yours has had a little bit of 'homemade' work done to it. I give that engine and drive credit for making me a die-hard Volvo Penta fan.

The first thing I would do is change thermostats.

Since you don't have a lot of history on service other than it was recently 'gone thru', I thought I would share a weird overheating story with you from my AQ130/270 days. I had just changed my exhaust manifold and it kept overheating afterwards. I tried everything and then had that 'Eureka' moment. The gasket I installed at the exhaust manifold was different. The gasket that is CORRECT completely restricts the exhaust flow and except it has a hole (probably 3/4" to 1" in diameter) in it. The WRONG gasket I put in basically only matched the mating surfaces and was 'wide open'. To this day I cannot explain why, but it continually overheated while the wrong gasket was in place. I changed to the one with the hole and it was perfect from that day on. If you can't seem to find any other 'traditional' cause for overheating, take the manifold off and look at the gasket (at this point you will have to change it anyway). Maybe somebody did the same thing I did...

So, I called napa, They cant get me a thermostat, However I ordered my Impeller kit which was about 40 bucks, It'll be here this afternoon. Im gonna swap that out tomorrow. You guys think it'll be alright to pull the thermostat out and run it without it?

The wire from the alternator should go to the main power lug on the starter.

The brown wire should be for the oil pressure switch.

Don't run it without the thermostat - those motors require the thermostat to allow water flow through the exhaust mainfold. The thermostat is located in the brass housing just forward of the valve cover. I don't remember if you can get a Sierra replacement. You'll need to cross reference part numbers but I seem to remember that you need to buy those from Volvo at around $75

See how it runs on the hose before you just start replacing any more parts, and get acquinted with the manual. A couple of us here have some very recent experiences with cooling problems on those motors or outdrives and can help, but you really need to start getting a good understanding of how the components work together.
