I purchased a carb rebuild kit. I removed the high and low speed caore plugs as my service manual showed me to do. After removing the slow speed core plug, there is a plastic filler plug in te carb. Does this need to be removed to ensure the slow speed orifices are clear?

I should have mebtioned this is a 9.5 HP. I went to the diagram. If you look at item #17 that is what I have under the core plug. I can only see the 3 little orifices from the barrel, can't see them under the core plug

scratch everything i said. i would try to replace that filter, as it could be clogged, at that age.

It is a plastic plug. Looks like it needs to be drilled out very carefully. It did not come with my carb kit but can be purchased.

Looking at it, it is a solid piece of plastic. It has no wire sides and doesn't appear to be a filter of any type. I tried pulling it out and it won't budge.

Well, I got home last night and curiousity killed me. I drilled out that plastic plug and at the bottom of it were the 3 tiny orifices. Checked and made sure they were clear. I have the new part on order. Should be here tomorrow. I will post back after I see what happens.
