Hello,
I am new to this boating forum and I am basically just looking around for different ideas to do to my 18hp fastwin. First off I own a 14ft valco that this motor currently sits on. It moves it decent but not quick enough when loaded with 3 ppl. I don't expect it to move fast either lol with that many ppl on board. But I have taken it upon me to basically make this a project motor for myself as for I want to learn more about these motors. My questions are what are the cylinder wall thickness on these motors and how far can u bore these motors over? Also, has there been any models of these with electric start? or would I be better off finding like an old lawn motor starter with the correct tooth and fabricate a bracket for the starter to be mounted? This motor has lasted me and my dad 20 years still running strong. I am avid fisherman and hunter and this motor has just been through hell and back with me at the controls lol. Been a great motor but now I have a 16ft g3 with a 90/65 evinrude etec jet on it and its been my main boat, but am looking to rebuild the 18hp evinrude as a little fun motor for the 14ft valco. so any help is appreciated thanks. also is it even worth diving into the 18hp fastwins?
