Hey everyone I took off the water pump housing on the motor last night and checked everything over. On the impeller housing there is very very minimal scoring and on the ss plate under the impeller, it is as smooth as a baby's backside so I am making an executive decision and only going to change the impeller instead of the whole housing. Under the ss plate, and where the housing meets the gearcase, there were no gaskets and I see none are called for. However, there was a brown residue on both surfaces, Is that OMC gasket sealing compound? Is that recommended in this case? Thank you and sorry for all of the newbie questions.
