I am trying to replace the needle bearing in the carb with the one in the kit and am not sure if there is an old one in there or how to get it out if there is.
The low speed needle had Teflon tape instead of the packing so I don't know what all was done by p/o. I did some searches but found nothing specific. I must apologize for my ocd about specific instructions. Any tricks to this?
Thanks

I don't believe there is a needle "bearing" in that carb. Are you referring to the red/orange piece with the nub off it? Won't be needed. Most of the kits are made to fit a range of years and models, and as such have "extra" parts. Get rid of the teflon and use the washers provided in the kit.

Is this motor not running properly ??------I see no reason to replace that part.----If the motor has issues then what other trouble shooting has been done ?

Hard start. Seemed to be flooding, checked the float valve and it was worn, gunk hardened on the butterfly valves. I bought the rebuild kit and wanted to use what I could. So this bearing survives a carb bath?

Oh yeah, the only time I change them is when they come out with the needle and I lose them!

WHen you want to take them out, they will be stuck. When you don't want them out, they come out with needle. Such is life.

If the threads aren't stripped, leave well enough alone.

After a carb bath with the core plug removed, you might try the needle again. Seat the needle and test the fit while looking down from the top -- should be able to see the tip of the needle. Check the fit (opening not messed up, and not plugged with a broken tip). As a bonus, if you test and remove the needle after carb cleaning, the little bearing or sleeve might pop out with the needle.

note that on that carb there are 5 holes in the carb body to float bowl gasket...only 4 of these take screws the fifth seals a passage from the float bowl up tp the carb body---idle mixture chamber--- get this passage as clean as possible to help with the idle mixture adjustments....the 25 hp. version of the 22 cubic in. block isn't the best idler anyway
