??---Pour water in from the top and see if it comes thru the screen.

Yes I did and water comes through, I was just wondering if there was a way to remove the plug for further inspection.

I obviously didn't understand the instructions I was given. I should let the impeller slide into the housing by itself while I'm turning the driveshaft, instead of placing impeller inside first correct? I'm sure it can be done either way but that's not how it's done in the directions I was given, at least that's what I'm thinking.

Well it's pumping water now. I have no idea why it worked now, the impeller even flipped itself in the right direction.

It's idling high now so I'll need to figure out what the issue with that is. I was trying to post a video but photo bucket is taking forever to show the upload in my album.

sounds smooth. Throttle it down -- may need to adjust the throttle stop. Throttle side under the pan. It's a plastic screw, if original.

(#8 in the diagram: http://www.iboats.com/Exhaust-Housin...iew_id.1532836 )

It's throttled down all the way, I adjusted the one labeled idle adjustment screw in the diagram in the book. I'm assuming that's the same as the throttle stop you mentioned? It's all the way out.

I thought it sounded pretty good besides the high idle, since I got it pumping water it starts up with one turn of the starter.

I just want to say I greatly appreciate the help I have received! I cannot find the right words to describe the gratitude I have for this forum and the members who have taken their own time to help me. I truly do appreciate it, thank you iboats and thank you to everyone who has helped and continues to help me. I would not have been able to do this alone.

You're welcome, sir.

I think you might check the tower up above the idle adjustment screw (what I call the throttle stop). Reach in with your fingers to the stop where the screw makes contact (when screwed in) at the bottom. See if you can turn the tower and linkage counter clockwise a bit by pulling on that stop. The timing/ignition plate up under the flywheel make be stuck due to old grease underneath. (can also try to reach under and turn the plate c.clockwise a little by hand.) I'm guessing, of course.

good that you distinguish between the throttle idle screw and the carb mix screw. If the motor idles well as it seems to (if a little high), and goes into gear smoothly (no stalling), the mix seems to be adjusted correctly.

After a long, busy, and enjoyable day I was only able to mess with it for about 15 mins before it was dark out. I could see next to the idle adjustment that there's like little notches for different throttle positions and it was on the third notch, not the first. I adjusted the linkage while motor was running and idle went down but still seemed high and wouldn't stay running. I see some grease build up by those notches so I'm going to clean that up a little tomorrow and also see what I can do with your other suggestions.

I was able to get the idle to drop a little but still is high. The only thing that had any affect on the idle was adjusting the linkage on the throttle control cable but I can only adjust it so far before it stalls out. Does this motor have a rev limiter? I'm not seeing one on any parts list I've looked at, unless I missed it. There's very little increase in rpm's when throttling up in neutral, don't want to try it in gear until I have a bigger water holding tank. Just curious if the lack of increase when throttling up was do to the already high rpm's or a rev limiter.

No rev limiter.----Other than the shift interlock that prevents high revs in nuetral.----So stop motor.---Turn flywheel while shifting to forward.---Then see if you get full throttle movement.
