OK, you're next move is to remove the flywheel and inspect the ignition system components. If you have cracked coils, replace them. Check the point gaps for .020.
Replacement parts (coils, points, condensers, wires) are cheap and readily available. A factory service manual wouldn't hurt either. It will walk you thru the steps to replace and adjust the ignition parts etc.

BTW, try to stay with one post regarding your motor. I noticed you started another post asking about ignition coils. By keeping all of your posts in one thread, others can see what you have done to correct any issues and help you further based on what you have already done.

the motor only has one failing cyl. that only fails periodically when the motor is at operating temp. I inspected the coils and neither are cracked. what could be wrong in respects to an imtermiten spark to that cyl and do you suggest still giving a tune up of new points and condensor and wires?
sorry about the double post. I wasn't getting any response so I thought I would try again oops

Usually, when you drop a cylinder (no spark) at WOT, it's a bad coil, it heats up and breaks down. The plug wires are seldom a problem unless the insulation is cracked. The wires are of a solid core variety. Don't use automotive type plug wires.

As I mentioned earlier, these ignition parts are cheap and easily replaced. Once replaced, your ignition system should be factory fresh.
