I bought this boat a couple weeks ago, and when I took it out the first time the boat ran great. I had the boat out on the lake for about 3 hours till I ran out of gas and had to paddle myself back to the shore. I took the boat out again the day after that and a few other times. Now the boat will only run for 5-10 minutes, and it will turn off. The boat will turn back on without a problem, but once again it will only last 5-10 minutes. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing these problems, and how to fix them. Thank you for all the help.

It only dies out when the boat is in motion, and can't really go back there to pump the prime bulb.

Similar problem. My 72 Johnson 100 would quit completely once it warmed up. Turned out the 385008 sensor was quitting once it got warm. Once replaced, it ran like a top.

It's under the flywheel and senses crank rotation for the ignition system. It's a special order part now. You may be able to find additional ignition troubleshooting info at this website: cdielectronics.com. Good stuff.

Where do I order that part from? I went to the cdi site, but it doens't give ordering procedure or the cost of the part.

I ended up just taking the boat to the boat shop to have them fix the problem. With my job as a truck driver I don't hardly have any time to work on the boat or the motor which sucks since I'm going to be restoring this boat and 2 jet skis. I'll update this thread as soon as I get the boat back from the boat shop and see what they have to say about it.

Looking forward to hearing the results. I'm fighting a 68 100hp engine. Its a blast when it runs. Which hasn't been long.
