Also beware that little critters may be hiding in the carb passages which can run it lean so if you notice any backfire or stumbling investigate straight away

Thanks! But right now it has become a major distraction!! It's still chained up in the back of my truck. I have a four wheeler trailer I'm building for a guy, might be done tomorrow if I can quit looking at it lol. And have to build an engine stand, but that shouldn't take but a couple hours.

I plan on pulling the carbs down for cleaning, lu maintenance etc... top to bottom before firing it off.
Looking at the ring gear, bendix and underneath the flywheel; it doesn't look as if it has ever been spun. Another telltale sign(s), no soot in the exhaust ports or hub. No indication that a prop has ever been on her, either.

finally spent some time back on the 100 and found shift wire insulation stripped/bare underneath motor as they go through the bottom engine cover/exhaust housing. Pulled lu and found bolts tight but not holding impeller housing firmly. Used a bottom tap and cleaned out holes, put everything back together as found.

For some reason, I felt possessed to drain the oil which they had just changed. Was clean after a fair amount of water came out!! 20 minutes tops running on muffs here at home. How's that song go, "if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand..."

a few months ago when this was done, I didn't have the time to do it myself. From now on, if I don't have the time, it will not get done. I really like this old '72, but it's starting to look like it really IS going to be a parts motor.

probably many of us have been dissatisfied with services rendered or lack thereof at times? It's important for me to move past it and get to forgiveness. At least, that's my "outboard" philosophy :D
