I have a 1972 Merc 110 9.8 . I am having firing issues , soemone please help !
The following is the problems I am having . I have the motor mounted in a barrel. When I crank the motor over by pull of rope the top coil & top cylinder will fire. The bottom cylinder powerd by coil on side will not fire as I pull rope . What I am trying to explain when I pull rope both cylinders do not fire . Is this normal ? Should both fire while pulling rope ? Here is the tricky part . I thought I had a bad coil . I switched the wires from top coil + & - over to the side coil which fires the bottom cylinder , bottom cylinder fired . Here I discovered my coil was good & in proper working order. If both coils are hooked up both cylinders will not fire. If I take the negitave wire off the top coil the bottom coil will fire. I have took the flywheel off both point sets were gaped at .015 . The points look good . I turned engine both. sets of points look great . All wiring on this engine is in great shape . There is not coating off wiring that could cause a ground out .

Can someone help ?
