I am thinking its time for new plug wires??? Today running my boat in the driveway I put a timing light on number one cylinder to check for irregular spark, and as I was looking at the number 1 wire where the clip from the timing light was hanging I could see a spark jumping across to the number 2 spark plug wire so stupid me grabbed ahold of the timing light clip to move it.Needless to say that was the worst Idea I had in awhile (Also standing in water). So I am guessing I am due for a new set of wires.I can laugh about it now, wasnt so funny earlier.I thought I would pass that on for daily humor.

I've got a thread to see if a universal kit would work on my 76 1500 Merc. You can find the right ones at oldmercs.com.
But if you see spark jumpimg to ground or other wires then yes, you definitely need new wires.
