So after changing my impeller on my 1972 Mercury 1150 (serial # v3362946) I cracked the water inlet tube really bad trying to reinstall the lower unit. I can find the part online ( part number 38 http://www.boats.net/parts/search/M...OUSING ASSEMBLY, COMPLETE (PAGE 1)/parts.html)
but my problem is that on my water pump body assembly, the water inlet tube seems to be glued in really tight - I could not pull it out with pliers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

DVT02...im sure my supplier would have that plastic tube...BUT since your motor is a '72, you really should have done a complete water pump assembly (base plate, base plate gaskets, new upper pump body, etc) it is relatively simple and there is 3 seals in there that are probably worn out anyway...get a complete new assembly...save any shims that were under the base plate and reinstall them as they were...if the base plate seals leak, it will eventually invade the lower unit and could possibly destroy it..

On my 1971 115, I have a 1/2 copper pipe that runs up to the power head. Fits perfect into the upper and lower rubber seals. I believe the pipes OD is 5/8. Not my engineering, but someone else s. It works though.

DVT, do you mean the short plastic tube that fits into the water pump cover, or te 1/2" copper water tube?

If the plastic tube is stuck, I think you mightwant to inspect the water pump cover for melting, scoring or other wear. Replacement is likely in order. Those water tube guides come wiht every impeller kit. I recommend you install a new impeller, gaskets, wearplate etc.
