I'm getting ready to start (again) on my project boat. I was in the process of replacing the floor when I was laid off of work so it went in the barn. 5 years later, I want to get going on it again. I have the floor all ripped out and gutted down to the hull. I am looking to see if anyone has a template of the stringers (it had two stringers from bow to stern with a couple bulkheads for the ski storage bin). I have contacted Sea Ray in the past and they sent me some great information on construction of the SRV-190 I/O model. I have the Outboard model. Also, I am looking for parts for the windshield support arms. They have aluminum left and right hand threaded bolts with a round ball head that fit into the mounting plates. Thanks. I am new to this forum but I am finding a TON of useful information. When I find where I put the info from Sea Ray, I will be more than happy to post it! Thanks!

Welcome to iboats. I pulled your email out of the post..... we use the PM system instead ;)

Post a few photos and we might be able to point you in the right direction.

Here's the pics.. The boat is VERY dirty from sitting the last 6 years in my barn.

Here's the inside. Notice I already cut out the existing floor and removed all the flotation foam.

after dis assembly, I didn't want to break, or lose any of the parts so once I knew that I wasn't going to get it done, I put everything inside the boat.

The original back seats were constructed using Coleman coolers (interesting).

The rear of the boat and what is left of the stringers that I didn't remove are here...

Looks pretty workable. Very similar to my 21 footer, except you have no cuddy.

You'll find that it handles rough water well, being able to make speed in a moderate chop that would slow other boats. It's built like a tank, the hull is able to take a ton of abuse and keep going.

But it's very heavy. My 300 HP motor pushes it to about 45 mph, and with a new carb and some tuning I think I might get 50-55 at most. You're gonna need a big outboard or pair of them to get it moving fast.

On the other hand you should be able to get near 40 with a 150 outboard or so, and the ride will be nice.

How is your project coming along? I started the same project -- 1972 SRV 190 outboard although, my starting point was truely 'farm fresh'. Family purchased the Sea Ray in 1972 and we enjoyed her until 1989 when parents moved to FL and boat was sold. Discovered the old family boat last year a few miles from our cottage in Norhtern Michigan. She was parked in a wooded area for 15 years uncovered, motor and controls removed and trailer wheels buried to the axle.

Look forward to hearing about your progress. Status on my project: all wiring/seats/tank/flooring/foam/stringers removed -- transom replacement is next. Purchased a 72 140hp Mercury outboard and it's currently undergoing a mechanical restoration by Bill Rose of Rose Marine in Algonac Michigan. Next stop for the motor is exterior restoration at www.classicmercuryoutboards.com.

Any suggestions on how to replace the transom from inside the hull, I would appreciate the advise. I do not want to cut the gelcoat. Amazing with all the abuse this boat was exposed to, she still shines. Also, I need a replacement aluminum rub rail track and chrome fittings for the bow rail -- any suggestions?
