I'm hoping to get started grinding later today or tomorrow, it all depends how much I get done from my honey-do list

Seems to be a lot of that tooth stuff going around...I totally felt your pain...hope you are feeling better...

Even with the soreness of them being pulled, I feel 100 percent better than the pain I had before.

Grinding on your Teeth or the Boat...or BOTH!!!:D:p

Hopefully only on the boat :D

All you were missing was the kick in the junk glasser comment :)

BM: Congrats on surviving the 3K, and to your sister for the big finish! And getting some pain relief at the dentist, plus the bonus nap!

Well wishes for the continued progress grinding your way around the hull.

Pain relief is good :)

That's what I am working on this morning. (I'm actually taking a little break from it)

I was up at 5:30 with the wife this morning and we went for a 2 mile walk/run. We are starting to do this every morning to try and get in better shape. It works out well because by the time we get done the sun is starting to come up and it's cool so I can go out and grind.

It's not alot but it's progress. The 24 grit resin discs work really good but they are almost to aggressive to use inside the strakes since there are a couple tight corners. I think I will use flap discs there instead.

Another interesting thing, the boat was last registered in 1985, that means it was only 12 years old when it was put away. If it would have been stored a little better all this work probably wouldn't be necessary. Also check out the cool navigation light. There is one on each side.

I went back out and ground out the inside of the strakes where I ground earlier. I used flap discs and they actually worked just as good, if not better as the resin discs. I will need to go pick up a few more to finish the job. They worked really well inside the strakes since I could control it better and they don't have the sharp edge like the resin discs.

Quick question; in the bottom of the hull are several, randomly scattered 1/2" thick 4x4 inch wooden blocks. I'm almost certain they are there for added support. I will be replacing these as I'm sure the factory put them there for a reason. I'm just wondering if I should try to put them back as close to were they were from the factory or just randomly scatter them as they appear to be.

I got some cut out, you can see the outlines of them:

Looks like some form of ancient alien hieroglyphs...???...or maybe a code of some kind...

They could have been utilized to help absorb vibration...I don't know, but couldn't you just replace them with a solid piece of glassed in ply???

Hmmm, very interesting...curious to see what the more knowledgeable dudes say about this...

That's actually all they are, ply that was sprayed over with the chopper gun. It seemed like they were sealed really well but there was only one that wasn't wet and rotten.

Hey BN. Don't know how I missed your thread. WOW what a interesting project you have. Looking forward to see how you put the 4 bangers in. Your making great progress. Wish it was cool here in Texas.

I think the blocks could be put back like the factory did it. Just in a random order. I would try to put back as many as they did.
Will be watching the thread from now on. Really want to see how all this comes together.

Those lights look like an air filter snout for a motorcycle... Cool.

Yeah, but away, and not properly prepped & protected makes no sense... Just left to disintegrate.

Same w/ vintage trucks/cars. Had value, were incredible, could have been again, now not so much

Re: 1973 Silverline Grand Bahama

Today I pulled he head off my one donor motor. The head gasket looked good so I think it will need new piston rings. I was planning on freshening it up anyway so no real biggie.

It seems I have been jumping back and forth between projects. I feel I need to focus on one and get it done. I think the Silverline should be on top of the list since it will be something we can use more as a family. I'm about 1/4 done with the grinding so a couple more weeks and I should be ready to start putting it back together.

I hope everybody is having a safe and productive labor day weekend. As for me, I have to work this afternoon.

If your schedule lets you work on the boat that's great, if not then your making money at work.
Either way have a good weekend.

No boat work this weekend, I had Sunday off but we went to my parents this for my dads birthday. There probably won't be any work done this week and next weekend is my brothers wedding so I will be pretty busy.

I did get our other boat winterized this weekend. We only took it out 5 times this year. There's always next year I guess :D
