1973 4 Evinrude Lightwin

I have cleaned the points, replaced the spark plugs, and still no spark. Can both coils go bad at the same time, or am I looking in the wrong place? help thank you

They sure can. If the coils are a green color. Look for minute cracks.

Before you do that, Den, check with a meter if your points are grounded even when open.<br /><br />I agree with DJ that both coils can fail, but I suspect that your trouble is simpler and a lot less expensive.<br /><br />Please tell us what caused you to start replacing parts.

Does anyone have the book that tells what the fuel pump numbers are for a '73 evinrude 4 (Mod.# 4306)lightwin? and what years used the same fuel pump? Thank You
