1973 40Hp Mercury lower end oil capacity

I bought a used boat with a 1973 40HP 2 stroke. I'm changing the lower end unit oil. Does anyone know the capacity of the unit. I know I have to scrounge around for a manual but that will take too long

It will use less than a quart. Get a quart bottle with a pump and refill from the bottom 'til it comes out the top. Motor should be verticle...<br />- Scott
