Hi,

I've been using iboats for about 5 months now and you guys are the best.

I purchased a 1973 Thunderbird Shawnee and my wife has fallen in love with this old (and ugly) boat. We call her the Blue Beauty (the boat, not my wife). So, being the project freak that I am, I have been cosmetically restoring her because as far as I can tell, she is a sound little 16 foot vessel. No leaks, no soft spots, engine runs well, etc., etc.

There is next to no information on the internet for this model boat. Very few pictures and no technical data anywhere.

As far as I know she is a 1973. At least that's what the title claims. I am looking for basically photos, especially of the emblems, and possibly connections to where I can purchase them. Also, any information on cushions for the bow section of the boat, glove compartment, gauges that came standard and anything else from a cosmetic perspective. How about a bimini???

She is definitely a Shawnee and definitely 16 feet.

Any information or if someone out there has one, please contact me. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

JC

Re: 1973 Thunderbird Shawnee General Info.

Hi JC, I am in the same "boat" kind of (pun intended). Just purchased a 1972 16ft shawnee that's in very good shape. Wanted to find pictures, info, other owners, etc. online and cannot find much. If you are still around on this forum can you let me know if/where you found more resources/info on your boat? Take care and happy boating

Yes,

I have some info for you now that it is the end of the season. Although my wife is still in love with her, we've decided to upgrade to a bigger boat and looking to put this one up for sale. I blew the engine...again. My father in law is a retired marine mechanic and we both agree that the engine needs to be replace but the boat itself is in terrific shape. I have new pics of her restored at the beginning of the season along with a pic of an orginal ad that was run in some boating magazine a million years ago.
We got her out of the water today, had to tow her with my jetski to the landing, and broke the jetski at the landing and had to get that out of the water today as well. Sucked up a bungee cord that was lurking about in the water and froze the impeller. Meanwhile, it was 77 degrees and all my friends on the water were calling us to meet for lunch at a cove today. One of the last few beautiful boating days left at the Jersey shore and both are marine vessels are on trailers...wah!
