I just purchased a working trim and tilt unit. Before I install it, I was wondering if there is any notorious wear parts that I should replace? Anything I should do or check before slapping it on?

Thanks in advance.

I had one that I mounted to a 2x10 and test ran it. The big problem I had was the input line seal / connection to the cylinder.

Can't tell you much more because it was sold before it was put in use.

careful with the aluminum nut that bolts the hydraulic pipe nipple to the top of cylinders you will see it on the inside of the stainless steel bracket that goes around the cylinder , it strips the threads easy when over tightened

the trim sensor on left side ram can leak water in and get the indies all rusty. if you get at it before the rust is too bad then it can often be fixed with simple cleaning.

64osby has a good idea. Would be nice to know if it worked (with no leaks) before you went to all the trouble to install it. It's easier to work on when it's on the bench instead of installed.

Thanks everyone. Great tips. I just drained the fluid and see no signs of water. Also there is no visible rust or leaking around trim sensor. The motor to pump connection was slightly loose, so I tighgtened the 2 scews. A quick clean up and fresh paint, and in it goes!
