1974 Johnson 40hp Help

I am looking at an old aluminum boat with a 1974 Johnson 40 on it. The owner states it runs good. How does this motor hold up? What should I look at when going to check it out? Thanks for the help.

If the owner will let you, check the lower unit for water, check the spark and compression, if those are all OK, anything else can be repaired easily.
