I cant really get it off with this a punch, im hitting it from the back side of the bearing, should I invest in a puller?

Chris, some times it helps to tap it from all around the bearing. I would even apply some penetrating oil and start taping it around the entire bearing. Otherwise it can **** and lock in one place. JMHO!

That helped. Hit it on the sides alot, then hit it from the back, and she cracked and popped out! have another one coming tomm, wont be able to get to it until sunday. Got a new impeller kit, with the plate, housing and o-rings, Also got the new rings in, sealed up the powerhead, new thermostat and gaskets. Hoping to have her running after easter!

*Also added a new shift rod, oil seal

Looks like you are making some head way now. The water pump assembly looks great. I think you've learned a lot doing this yourself. And remember, we all had to start out somewhere as well. :thumb:

Il give you guys a little update. I have the powerhead back together, starter and chock solenoids are on. I have a question about the timer base, does that just sick in or what? It seems like it could fall out of place? Im hoping I can check for spark and maybe try to start it tomm if all goes well, I have the day off from school. The lower unit is back on, carbs are rebuilt and like said before new smeller kit. Dumb me...when I was hooking up the throttle linkage to the carbs, I realized I switch the cabs, just gotta put those back today.... Also for the red plug next to the thermostat I forgot to put the spring back on it, so I have to take off the water cooling plate and put that back in....Im wondering what that red thing is even for? any clue? Lastly I might have put the shift rod in backwords, I cant seem to et the little bolt through the rod, and to screw into the other side of the holder, other than that the lowerunit install went easy. Il get some pics and updates for you all tomm or tonight! Thanks!

Its probably the poppet valve you are meaning. It has to be put back in and check its not warped/
To get the lower unit in i have the control rods unhooked so the the gear lever can be moved a bit to get the screw in. But it sounds like you may have put it in backwards. You can twist it with pliers often.
Timer Base just rotates on grease, it shouldnt just fall out

Alright, today didn't go as planned but I made progress. Here's what I did and didn't do.

- I got that poppet valve with the spring back in its place fine, that worked very well.
- I put the carbs back in the right order, they were switched (top and bottom) and the bowls were also mismatched, all fixed now.
- I attempted to reconnect the shift lever but the piece broke :( The things 30 F*** dollars! Whatever. Ordered that today.
- I put on the starter solenoid, connected all the leads to the battery and the right spots on the solenoid. Tried testing the starter, nothing even worked, I had matched the wiring diagram in the factory manual, everything was correct. I took the old tester to it. I was getting 12v at the batt., I got 12v at the end of the battery cables attached to the ground and solenoid but through the solenoid I got nothing. When I attached it to the ground and then the starter I got .1v. Seems odd. I tried to test the starter next, I hooked up the positive fine, but there was no place to put the negative, so I tried a few things. I first tried the battery cable positive to the starter positive and the negative remained grounded on and exhaust plate bolt. no luck. Next I tried grounding it onto the starter holding it their, nothing. After that I tried holding it onto the little rod sticking out the top, nothing. I had the big red plug attached when doing this, and when I turned the key I got nothing. Guessing a new starter is needed? Maybe a solenoid as well?

Any Tips/help would be great to try to diagnose this issue? Put a lot into this motor and dont want to give up. Im not that great at wiring/electric work on motors, I understand some of the stuff but am not going to do anything else without some knowledgeable advice. THANKS!!!!!

Im thinking of just ordering both a a starter and solenoid today... together on amazon their 60$. The starter looks like the original! (I think this because it has the stick on it with idle information)

UPDATE - APRIL 3RD

Got the starter to work, cleaned all the connections with a new starter and solenoid and she cranks right up! Havent started it back up yet. Gotta figure out how to properly toque the flywheel? Gotta figure out why the chock solenoid isnt working when key is pushed in? Also I am wondering because ive installed new rings, a hone job do I need to go through the break in period with this? Hopefully this week I can tie up these loose ends and see if it will start (havent checked spark) Also got the fuel filter on with a new screen in it. Il get some compression numbers soon!

*also got the throttle and shift levers to work out
