Like the subject says, is there any way to remove the lower cowling w/o having to remove the motor from the boat. I am having trouble getting to the #4 Spark Plug and I need to replace the gasket on the cover. I have already broke a couple of the bolts on the cover but since they use a nut/bolt combo it is not a huge deal (no tapping :D ). So if someone knows a way to do this w/o removing it from the boat this would make my work alot easier.

Thanks

Hi Marley,
The only way to remove the lower cowling is to remove the powerhead. Removing the powerhead will also allow you clean access to any broken bolts, etc. below the cowl line...

- Scott

Soak the nuts/bolts liberally with PB Blaster or some other penetrating oil. Let it sit, then repeat. Have a torch handy to heat the area before you start breaking them loose...helps prevent breaking them.
