I have a 22' cuddy cabin with a straight 4 in it I want to put the biggest motor in it that the lower unit will match up with what size is that and what do I need to do it
With the gear ratio in the drive, you will have to stick with the 4 cylinder engine. Your exhaust pipe that hooks to the transom shield is also setup for a 4 cylinder.
By Regearing the outdrive,
You Can step up to a SBC........

Or, Any Other V8 that was Ever installed in front of the Mod.1 drives.......
The outdrive upper gears would have to be changed. You would have to get a Mercruiser dealer to do the job, it requires reshimming the new upper gears with special shimming tools.
You will probably have to add motor mount pads to your boat also, as the 4 bangers had the front mount and the V8 or V6 engines had side mounts.
While all this changing can be done, there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.
It would probably be cheaper in the long run to find that size boat with a V8 in it already.
Ayuh........... What Don Says.........

There's No Kit......
Ya gotta go out,+ Scrounge the parts to put it together.......
Or, Better Yet,
Go buy an Old Rotted Out "Donor Boat" to junk out,+ Then you have All the Little Pieces that co$t a Ton of Money $$.....................
