I just couldnt bring myself to let her go. So Ineed to try and make her a little more family friendly. Not sure what Im going to do with her yet. Ill be posting more later.

Sharp looking Cheif!!:) Without the 22 logo on the side I would swear that was a 25' hardtop. Didn't know they made the 22's like that. Now I have another one to hunt down.:D

I have a 74' Chieftain thats 21' and have just about finished her up. A couple of Ideas for you, which is what i Did.

You could remove the inboard / outboard, seal up the hole with a plug and then Marine Tex it over. You should be able to get
$400 to $500 for engine, $350 for outdrive, Sell off controls and Gimble Housing. I got $1000 total out of mine.

Step 2 - Go to Hydro Dynamics website and order a 15" Static Setback Plate, Then add a 5 1/2" Rapid Jack. Then Toss on your Outboard and your set. I just got my Static Bracket and Jackplate in a Couple of Days ago. Getting the Chief Painted next week then mounting the hardware and a nice running 93' Johnson 175 Fast Strike.

That will open her up big time and the space is Unreal.... and Yes you have to put some support in for the Outboard. I wanted new hardware so i went static bracket and Jack plate... You could do the Outboard Armstrong Bracket but thats another deal.

Nice looking chief, now hang an Outboard on the back of that sucker...

Regards,
Robert

cheapest will be to have em repro'd at local boat canvas and awning type place. doubt you can find replacements. even if you could, the rest of the enclosure will have shrunk so much over the years that they might not fit.

OK in 75 Starcraft offered this boat as the Chieftain Mark IV Express. They also offered a Mark IV Express in 25' and standard Chieftains just called Chieftain Mark IV in 25', 22' and an 18' OB model that have cabin lids that resemble what we are all used to. No more Starchief....
