1975 25hp long shaft question ??

Hi yall, i was looking at a 1975 25hp tiller handle ob they say its a long shaft and my boat has a short shaft,, Question is they (people selling it) that you can just remove the 5" spacer in the lower unit and bolt it back together. any truth to that?? thanks much...

Removing the spacer will leave you with a driveshaft that's 5" too long.
If you could find a short shaft it would be an easy swap.

If you really love the motor you can raise the transom.Or buy and resell at a higher $$
Then buy the right motor
