Finally got the foot disassembled after a week of trying to get the driveshaft out.
Catastrophic damage to the driveshaft, pinion bearing and thrust bearing.
Thrust bearing is non existent, drive shaft sheared in two pieces inside pinion bearing.
Bottom end of driveshaft and what's left of the bearing have fused themselves together. Have ordered all new bearings and shims from BRP.
New driveshaft from BRP is $ 300.00 or I can get my hands on a used one for $140.
I would appreciate any feedback as I am leaning towards the more expensive one.

Personally, after I inspected it and verified it was true, etc. I'd save the money and buy the used one. Not sure there can be any "hidden" issues on a driveshaft, and you're mainly paying for the fact the part is considering "old stock" (which increases the retail just because they can). You just want to make sure the used one is true and the splines (whatever they're called) are intact and not worn down. For the record, you can occassionally find the whole assembly for not much over $300.00. Find a used motor anywhere between 90-135hp that has bad spark, cracked head, etc. Lot's of usuable parts there.

Then again, I'm in the land of the dead outboard, so things may be different up north. Good luck and this would be a good time to start a "rebuild thread" complete with pics, etc.:D
