Howdy all,
Alright I just picked up a 1975 Glastron V162 Futura for $200, knowing that the deck, stringers, and transom were rotten and in need of replacement. I have been researching the repair procedures on here, but does anyone have any suggestions on replacing the transom wood, maybe without removing the top portion of the boat. Does anyone know what the transom region looks like on these boats, I'm a little lost looking at it.

You can do it, but it is easier with the top off. If you were to keep the cap on the boat, it's been done by someone with a very similar boat, but it involves making a fiberglass inner skin before you poured the seacast. Replacing it with a wood one really is best done with the cap off the boat. I've got plenty of pictures of my boat in the the links below to look at, your boat should be similarly constructed.
