I own a 1976 Mercury 850 4 cyl. outboard.
Just got my boat back from marina, I paid $300 to have carbs rebuilt and full timing and throttle adjustment.
it will idle and run for awhile then all of a sudden it just dies. This has the 2 carb. deal and 1 of the carbs I can pump gas right out of it, with the priming ball. Once I let the thing sit a few minutes it will start right back up, but after running few minutes it dies again, it seems like it is flooding out. Any ideas beside get my money back. Is it possible the float in that carb is not working and allowing to much fuel? Or are the carbs just adjusted to rich?
Or could it be electrical?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
It seems it is hard to find reputable mechanic these days.
