Ok, so I got a 1976 Fiberform Bimini 19ft with a 1976 EZLoader Trailer for just getting it off the guy's property. I do have a title for both the boat and trailer. I managed to get it about 20 miles before I hit a bad bump which bent the port side wheel at an angle. I only had 3 more miles to home so went really slow. Got it into my yard and the wheel collapsed completely. Whew!!! I pulled the wheel and hub off to find that the axle tube (2x3 tube) rusted out on the end where the drop axle spindle was mounted. So, initial searching turned up no direct replacements. I check with a welding shop about using the spindle ends and welding in a new axle tube, they declined. I noticed that this trailer has 8.75x16.5 tires and wheels. I don't want to spend a lot of money, just make the axle safe. I plan to give the trailer and boat to a non-profit but both need serious work. Anyway, I got to thinking that maybe I could replace the axle with a straight axle and then changes the wheels and tires to ST225x15 to lower the trailer a bit in exchange for replacing the drop axle. The axle is face to face 86.5 inches and spring center to center is 70 inches. I can't fine even a straight axle that will work unless I cut off the spring seats and move them in. Looking for thoughts and ideas on the trailer.
