1976 Johnson 85hp w/power tilt stuck down

I am having a problem with the power tile on my motor. The power unit will move the motor into the down position, but when I hit the up button nothig is happening. I have changed the solenoid, checked all of the wiring connections, and disassembled the up/down buttons to make sure the switch is ok. The previous owner said everything worked when I bought the boat last year, but I have not been able to use it yet because I can't trailer it with the motor down. I have searched all of your posts on this site for anything relevent with no luck. any ideas?

To get the motor into the raised position so you can trailer it,look on the side of the tilt unit and there should be a bleeder screw.It is smaller than the filler screw on the front.Undo it a few turns and you should be able to lift the motor up.Turn the screw closed while the motor is raised and you will be good to trailer.Hopefully someone else can help you with the electrical part of your post. charlie
