That turned out very well, nice job. I like the cutout for the electronics.

Now you will just need to decide what else you now have room for on the dash. Maybe a sidescan sonar or Bill Dance bobble-head? :D

Are folks catching walleye and muskie out your way yet this year?

Thanks, HA. Yeah, I just threw the handheld GPS on there for now. I'm power saving for one of these:

It's a 597CI DI, sonar, down imaging and GPS. I want the Navionics really bad, but I think if I don't get it with the down imaging, I will regret it.

Haven't heard any Musky news, the season just got started. I have heard the 'eyes are biting well.

OK, time to come clean with some failure...

This is the rear guide post. The weight of the guides makes them vibrate while going down the road, the constant flexing caused cracks, not to mention I bounced off of them a few times during some ham-fisted power loading attempts. When I installed the guides, I thought this might be a little under-engineered, but I hoped for the best because the installation was clean and I liked the way it looked. Obviously it was a bad call and now I have to do it again.

Stay tuned for Guide Posts 2.0 on my next post.

So far this solution is proving successful...

The welded brace should prevent spreading of the posts from poor loading attempts. Going down the road, at least the visible oscillations are gone. Time will tell if I get any stress cracks. I created the slots in the PVC by drilling a 1/2" hole using a drill press and then two cuts were made using the fence on the table saw. It worked like I imagined and I am happy with how they came out.

I did get the Humminbird, unfortunately the GPS portion of it was DOA. Cabela's has another one on the way. The next project will be a rear fishing deck...
