1976 Merc 650 65 hp 3 cyl 2 stroke powerhead question

Hi guys,
I m looking for 1976 power head for my merc 650 65 hp 3 cyl,
if anyone has one please text me 519 564 1689

Here is my question,

I need a powerhead,
found a guy who says he has a 1977 powerhead.
I asked him if that would fit, he said from 1974 - 1980 would fit,
Is this true?
When I called the local boat store, they told me only within a year difference would fit.
but, they also told me that Merc didn't make 3 cyl until 1980, and I have a 1976 3 cyl

I need an experts opinion here.

Lots of poor opinions there.----The 77 model is a 70 hp and will NOT fit.-----Only a 72 to 76 will fit.----And what shop told you they did not make a 3 cylinder till 1980 ?---First one was in 1972 !!----Your location ??
