Hello,

I came across a nice 35hp that someone has cut the ignition switch off of. I also have a 81 25hp that has a switch on it. I have swapped the cable to the 35 and it works fine. My problem is that the color code of the wiring is different. I'm going to sell the 25 and want to leave the 25hp setup as it is. I have purchased a new switch and was hoping some of you experts could guide me through hooking it up. I've attached pics of my new switch, and the wires. Both of the engines are the black plug.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Re: 1977 35hp ignition switch

Red / purple stripe is Battery
Black w/ yellow stripe goes to the raised M terminal (kill wire)
Black goes to other M
White is Start
Purple w/ white stripe is choke or primer, whichever it has.

Can the red / purple stripe also be used to power a switch panel, or would this be to much of a drain?
