Serial E0001839. Having a few issues with this little motor. First, the little friction cylinder. The bolts are tight, but it just not keep the throttle in position. It tends to move when running and I have to hold it by hand. Second, is idle. I cannot get this motor to idle. It will start at about mid throttle and run decent. It has a brand new fuel pump, I had a friend who restores older outboards take apart and clean the carburetor. Slow needle is about 3/4 Out and high speed around 1 3/8 turns for a starting point. I have tried adjusting from there in 1/8 turn increments with no success getting it to idle. Tomorrow, I plan to test spark and compression and check all of my lines again. Is there anything else to do? Do I need to take carb apart and replace everything or am I just overlooking something. Thanks

Sounds like you already have the right plan.

Just start with that compression and spark test..
Post your results tomorrow, and I'm confident all the guru's here will get you pointed in the right direction..

Try not to overthink it till then though.. Could drive yourself nuts!! lol :D

I'd try making a couple of shims for the friction cylinder. Those little things sure are expensive.

Back together. Still acts like it' bot getting gas, will double check lines. Runs mid to full throttle, dies when slow idle. Still no luck with the needle adjustments to get it idling.

^^^ Good idea! Hopefully it is just a bad gauge and compression is better than that....

What was compression after you put it back together?
Did you use a fresh head gasket?

Slow speed is top needle - should start at about 1.5 turns out from seated. High speed is bottom needle - start at 3/4 turns out.
