I have really enjoyed the information on this forum and usually use the search before posting a question. My motor a 77 70 hp Evinrude is the best motor I have ever had. The compression on all three cylinders is 120 psi at operating temperature and the thing runs fast, smooth and easy at wide open throttle on the water. I have had the problem of bogging as I advance the trottle from time to time. Feathering the trottle usually is all it takes to reach WOT. Once there the motor runs smooth and fast. Now another problem has cropped up where sustained idling while trolling is a problem. After about 5 minutes of trolling at idle it seems to load up and flood. It always starts back up but with some fancy throttle work. I pulled the spark plugs after my last trip. #1 and 3 are clean. # 2 is dark brown/black and slightly oily. Plug gaps are correct. What is going on with #2? I figured the bogging problem is the carb but how about the idle? I am planning to buy kits for the carbs, soak them in cleaner and overhaul them this winter. Should I suspect the ignition too?
