Re: 1977 Silverline Kodiak 17T Restoration

Thanks a bunch for that info, JB! I like your suggestion and that's the approach I'll take to reinforce the transom. Like cturboaddict said, that link has some great info on how to restore the rest of the boat. It'll be a bit before I can actually get started on this unfortunately due to funds, but as soon as I do I'll be sure to post pictures of it all. Thanks again!

Use the wait for funding to read thru some of the resto threads. LOTS of good info in here.

Watch some youtube videos, look for Friscoboater's iboats threads, his youtube channel & his blog. SEEING it being done in a video, really pulled the info I was reading & seeing in pix together.

Don's list has lots of good info too:
[h=3]How To's and Other Great Information[/h]Friscoboater is one of the links in that list^^

So is oops hull extension thread, good stuff there too...

If you have questions about how someone is or has done something on their project in their thread ASK them there. If you have questions about how to do something on your project, or anything that seems different then what you've seen in other threads, ask them HERE.

Dig in & when you can afford to jump back on the project, you'll be better informed & prepared to knock the IMPORTANT stuff 1st, and get it water ready, quicker then you'd expect.

Best of luck w/ your project

Re: 1977 Silverline Kodiak 17T Restoration

I thought I'd give a little update on this boat. I recently acquired another boat that I like much better than this one for $300. It's also turned into a project boat, and needs a new deck and stringers. So, this boat has taken the back burner lately.

However, I view all of the work that I've done on the Silverline as valuable learning experience, and surprisingly fun as well! I'm currently unsure as to what to do with the Silverline right now, so I'll update info on it as it comes.

Here are a few things I've done to it since last posting on this thread:

First, I got the motor finally running as it should. Rebuilding the carbs fixed the fuel issues, and it now idles incredibly smooth. However, the trigger decided to go bad next, causing a loss of spark. I installed a new-used one from ebay, and that fixed the problem. It test started good, and is now winterized. The video of that test start is on my YouTube channel (also named eggs712).

Next, I did a little electrical work, and will fix the live well wiring and temperamental interior lights later on.

Anyway, that's it for now! As you can see, I'm now taking to YouTube with my boating projects, so I hope y'all like the videos!

Here's the thread for my new boat restoration: http://forums.iboats.com/boat-resto...3-procraft-1750v-boat-restoration-636651.html
