Hello all. I have done my fair share of searching and reading up in this forum and THT. I am very excited to become apart of this forum and appreciate any help and information i can recieve. I was able to obtain a fairly good deal on a 78 mcke great little boat. Some one however thought it was a great idea to astro turf the whole thing. I received it with majority of the carpet just crumbling to the touch after week or so of grinding(light wire wheel) scraping and sanding ive obtained a suitable suface for a textured floor. the boat is very solid in an out very minimal chips or cracks in the gelcoat. I would love to obtain the orginal finish but i know its impossible especially the amount of carpet glue used. so looking in to some kind of spray i or roll on coating have read alot on here of durabek kiwigrip etc i was going the budget way for now and was thinking valspar skid not my question being with boat being sanded and cleaned would i need to primer the boat before hand before i roll on the skid not or will the skid not adhere directly to the sanded surface of the interior. would really love to make this a c/c but have read too many troubles with them so im thinking skid not or paint the inside and repaint the outside hull. carpet split window console and keep the original color bench seat. Valspar has color that matches
any thoughts opinions would be greatly apprieciated looking to do this right the first time not looking to spend another week sanding it great little boat handles real well boat is real light so i know no water in the foam doesnt leak as far as i know has a few bumps and bruises but definatley a great little fishing rig has 78 70hp merc on it will post some pictures of the gutted sanded surface here shortly but here is a before picture
