Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Hey everyone! Happy spring! Summer is almost here :D.

Life has been crazy still, and I have lots of projects going on. I will be getting back to the boat soon though, and I am really looking forward to it. I recently bought some indoor/outdoor carpet for the boat from Menards. It was on sale for $.44 a square foot so I said, why not. I will have enough for covering parts of the interior and also my floor. I want to do snap in like Jas did, but I have a couple things I've been thinking about.

First, my deck is very rough. When I did my epoxy on the top I wasn't thinking about later on down the road. My deck is really rough for feet sometimes and with the cheaper carpet I don't want the pieces rubbing holes in it. I would like to do a rubber backing that is thin. I feel like this would make it lay better also. I am just looking for a decent thin rubber backing material. Anyone with an idea there would help me out a ton!

Also, in regards to the carpet on the deck I will want someone to do the piping and sewing around the edges. I feel like it just will make it cleaner and also since I am putting on the backing it will keep that together as well. Anyone around the Detroit area know of anyone that could sew on this for a reasonable price? PM me if you can or post in here. If all else fails I will make a trip up north :D.

Thanks everyone! And I hope to be posting some updates and pictures soon.
Ohh and I've got some cool underwater led light's I've been working on ;)

Yous old enough to remember a bar band called "The Dusty Saddle Pickers"???,......They used to play out that way,....

Yeah, I remember the Dusty Saddle Pickers. In the 70s they used to play regularly at the Eagles Club Capricorn Ballroom in Moscow, Idaho where I was bartending. They were the best! Especially the lead singer, Tom.

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Hey guys! Happy 2014! It's already been a big year of change for me and I am sure it's the same for everyone else. I apologize for not working on the boat, frankly life has gotten in the way. I did get some other big projects out of the way around the house. I know this is kind of a hijack, but I wanted to show everyone what I've been up to.

Here is what I've been working on. Underneath our deck are the old stairs that used to go up to the door, underneath is a little cellar thing. It was probably used for fuel oil storage a long time ago. The previous owners re-did the basement and semi finished it. They half assed the bathroom which they put under the steps and also the bar area and tile. The bathroom drywall was falling off and there was a really bad water problem. In the end, all the mortar has been replaced under those steps, water proof painted, new drywall, new cement floor, and tile. Same with the bar area, everything has been replaced and I put in new tile and what not there. It was a good experience and I really enjoy tile now :D

Here is really the only before picture that I have. This just shows how bad the cracks and mortar was falling out, plus the shotty electrical work where it was buried in the drywall...

And then after

And the bar area. I don't have a before, the tile was all falling off though. Don't mind the open cabinet door, haha!

Cutting those 24x24x.5" granite tiles was a bear!

So there ya have it guys! Just been busy with everything, but I'll be working on the boat again soon! Part of me is looking for a glasser ski boat... but I'm still thinking about that for now.

Thanks GA! I'm glad to be back, I've missed everyone! Yeah... that part is kinda worrisome...

Tell that part to sit down and be quiet!

Good to see ya again man:joyous:

I agree, I think I will. Maybe it's just 2-foot-itis haha!
Glad to be back, thanks Jas!

Well, I am going to dredge up my old thread in hopes of getting me motivated again to work on the boat and tidy up some things. I sadly have not had her out in almost two years, and I did not get a chance to really winterize the boat so I am hoping for the best come time for the first fire-up.

I am not sure who all is still around here from the original Starcraft Armada from 2+ years ago, but hopefully a still are kicking. Maybe some of the projects have been completed! ;)

I will be perusing the threads around here soon, hopefully to see some old ones that I remember when I was last here. Along with many great new ones.

As for life, it has a way of really throwing curveballs at you. My Dad passed away at the end of 2014 after struggling for a couple of years with Prostate and bone cancer. On top of the grieving process, I have been in charge of settling his estate. It is not easy, that?s for sure. I would have loved to have gotten to work on the boat as some therapy, but life did not permit that over the past couple of years. I am really hoping that I can get back to a bit of normalcy once I am on the water again. I just hope everyone is able to take advantage and cherish the time with their loved ones. As I have had to learn, life is far too short.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my future plans for the boat, as of now, time and money permitting.
- New LED bow and stern lights (Already acquired)
- Re-work of my "quick job" of a backbench.
- Carpet floor and sidewalls (Already have the carpet) Still considering snap in for the floor for quick and easy cleanup
- Paint touch ups
- Trailer tires and bearings, possibly switch from rollers to bunks.
- Fix some more leaky rivets
- Water Test!! :D

I am really hoping if I use the forum again I can keep myself going with the boat. I have missed sharing and having the support that the people of iBoats bring to everyone?s projects.

Hope all is well with everyone!
