Gladly. I'm only so knowledgeable ... more of a "fellow survivor."... You have been a ton of info and I want to thank you for that.
They've got their positives and negatives. Most would say the negatives outweigh the positives. Generally, I would suggest steering away from running a Stringer ... they'll keep you occupied as much in the garage as they will on the lake. Right now, your risk factor is pretty low, so why not go for it, right?It sounds like the OMC drives were pretty good drives in their day...
Just know when to pull the plug: it may turn out to be cheap and easy to get her going. It may also become expensive and annoying.
You may want to check the drive out when you get the motor running before you put too much time into the hull. You can probably part some of that drive out for what you've got into the boat if things go south.
