1978 55hp mariner wooruff key/flywheel key were can i get one from and were can i get other parts from.
i was told they stoped making parts for this motor.is there another one that fits or can any one tell me if theres a place i can get one made.cheers this site has helped me alot in the past thanks neil

you can get woodruff keys at any auto parts store or ace hardware. no idea on the other parts

Pity your so far away I could have helped you as im in Australia. Have you gone to a Yamaha dealer as the made in Japan motors were made by Yamaha but with the Mariner name.

Look online at Sierra for example for replacement parts. Here I have used NAPA auto parts as they have access to OEM parts. I don't have a dealer close by. The woodruff key can be purchased at a hardware in bulk form. Here you can buy it in a stick of 6" or so long. The key and the way it mates the flywheel to the crankshaft is very very important. It must be the exact dimension and should require a slight tapping (wood handle of a hammer works) of the flywheel to get it to seat nice and tight. If there is the least amount of distortion or slack in the interface it will cause problems.
