I got this outboard from my dad about 10 years ago and have never needed it on my boats. Being recently retires I decided to try to get it running. It only has approximately 50-75 hours of use and was kept for about 10 years wrapped in blankets in my dad's closet before I got it. It was his baby, lol. I noticed that the wires to the kill switch button were totally bare from dry rot and removed the switch to try to find a replacement. I could not find one so I decided to try to repair it by rewiring the switch. I believe I've got it, but it sat first in my kitchen cupboard, then on my garage workbench for about a year and a half. So when I went to reinstall it, I couldn't remember where the two wire hooked up! Sounds dumb, I know, but I'd like someone to verify that I actually connected the wires to the correct places. I've attached two pics trying to show what I did. I connected one wire to the bolt securing the bottom of the switch box. It looks like that's where the switch box is grounded because the black wire from the box just loops down and terminates there. The other wire I attached to where the orange wire from the switch box terminates. I believe that goes to the stator. Obviously, I'm in a bit over my head! Any help would sure be appreciated! If I short out my switch box I'll have much bigger issues.
