Looks good to me TC. And I do like the pin stripes you put on the foot section. Little things like that set it apart from others. Bravo sir bravo.

Thanks ahmincha. Much appreciated.

Thanks gm. Those stripes are actually the original factory stripe. I masked them off when I painted. I like them a lot. I also decided to paint the prop white. I really like the white. This week I'm going to paint my cowl. It has two grills in it that I want to do something with. Any thought?

I was hoping to fire this bad boy up this weekend but to no avail. I had a stand built to fit in my truck receiver so I could get it out of the garage and onto the muffs. It's a good rig. Saved from drilling holes in my boat if this doesn't work out. It is a bit tall so I will cut down about 14 inches.

Any way I put the gas to it and fired it over but nothing. Just turned over, no kick at all. It was getting gas so I checked spark. Only 3 of 4 cylinders was firing. Time to order in some coils. Disappointing to say the least. Back to the drawing board.

Hateful hateful hateful Motor. It's got to be cursed.:facepalm::facepalm:

So I messed around with the coils and found corrosion and dirt on connectors and the ground. Now have good, strong spark on all four plugs. So I mount it back on the truck rack, put the muffs on, ready to fire this bad boy. Cranking and cranking, not starting. Pulled the plugs out and didn't see a whole lot of gas. I decided to put some fuel in the cylinders thinking that it may need a prime. It's been sitting for a long time. Turn the key, cranking. Then a little cough. :D Turned the key again another cough. A bigger one. Turned the key again, she fired up. But it took off. Sounded like she was full song. Turned the key off, nothing. Still howling. I'm not sure how fast it was turning but it was high. I was freaking out. No effect from the key. I never thought of the Lanyard. I pulled the gas line off, unplugged the wiring harness. I was in full panic mode. By the time it finally quit, which seemed an eternity, it was so hot to touch. And to boot, she barely pumped any water. I guess I have a clog somewhere. I don't know if anything got hurt besides my feelings, or not. I brought it back in, put it on the stand and walked away. Cussing words I don't think I ever heard before. I think I might paint it dark red and glue horns on this thing. It's evil. Evil and hateful. I've been at my pity party since.:eek:

Hateful.

Ooooh, hold on there TC. You missed the important things. You got the engine to fire and run, and you learned a few things as well. Like the key circuit needs attention, and the impeller isn't pumping correctly. So all in all, you did good in my opinion. Nothing damaged (but your feelings) and now you know the engine will run and run strong. You also cleaned up the connections and once you figure out the key switch wiring and check the water passages, I see a nice engine just waiting to run on the boat. So I see a great accomplishment and not an evil engine. But that is just my opinion. JMHO

Thanks gm. Means a lot. I just need to walk away for a couple of days. Wrap my head around this. Do some research. Things like this keep me awake at night. Lol. We shall see what happens later in the week.

You shouldn't have painted it. This is what happens when you paint outboards :embarassed:
